Charting an Equitable Future

Digital annual report documenting the work of the City Budgeting for Equity & Recovery program launched by What Works Cities, an initative from Bloomberg Philanthropies. WWC helps local governments improve residents’ lives by using data and evidence effectively to tackle pressing social and economic challenges, and the CBER program was launched during the pandemic to support cities’ equitable recovery efforts. The design of the report expands on the What Works Cities’ branding and aims to create a cohesive, dynamic, and engaging reader experience. It does this through bright and inviting colors, bold photography featuring the participating cities, and simple illustrations and iconography. The stacked blocks of color throughout allude to literal bricks for building stronger infrastructure, but also visually reference bar charts and statistic visuals to underscore the data-driven nature of the program’s work.

Project completed for and in collaboration with Buoy.
