Maricá Basic Income

This bilingual website details an interdisciplinary mixed-methods study evaluating the impacts of an unconditional monthly cash payment policy for the citizens of the Brazilian city of Maricá.

The design is academic and accessible to appeal to researchers and the general public alike. The rotating logo and spinning graphic elements suggest the concept of a circular solidarity economy in which recipients of universal basic income reinvest money in their local communities. Photos of Maricá create meaningful texture throughout and ground the project in the real world. Both fonts — Pollen and Guanabara Sans — are created by Brazilian type designers to further bolster the sense of place and the cross-cultural nature of the study.
