Colbo is a clothing store, cafe, and events space on Orchard Street in New York’s Lower East Side, home to its own label and a tightly edited roster of independent designers from around the world. The project was an overhaul of the shop’s existing Shopify site, built to carry Colbo into its next phase of growth with a clearer path from browsing to buying, brand and collection pages that can hold the full range, and room for the store’s events, journal, and the bar next door.

The site is built on a beautiful brand identity and typography suite by edition.studio. A tight grid, generous white space, and spare type let the clothes and photography lead, while small moments of play carry the warmth of the store online, from shoppable looks and a slow-turning homepage slideshow to the logo’s cut shapes resting in the footer, ready to be picked up and tossed.

Every page opens with Colbo Today, a small digital bulletin board for the store and wine bar. At a glance it tells you whether the shop is open, the weather in the neighborhood, the day’s event, and what’s playing in the store, so online customers get some of the space’s energy and a sense of the real community behind the shop.

Within the brand’s existing identity and type suite, a monospaced face carries prices, labels, and running text, and a grotesk is saved for product names and headings. One tight grid, a single page edge, and pure white let the photography set the mood, and hand-drawn touches from the identity, like wobbly hyperlink underlines and the logo’s cut shapes in the footer, bring back the handmade warmth of the shop. Editorial looks are shoppable right where they sit, the brands live in an A to Z directory, and the Journal and Next Door pages give the store’s community and events a home online.
